Freecol is a free open source strategy game that's very similar to Civilization and Open Civilization. Here, however, you'll conquer and exploit new lands, extending your colonial empire.
Depending on the empire you choose, you'll travel to new lands, which you should colonize and exploit if the natives let you. If they don't, you'll have to either negotiate with them or declare war.
The interface is very neat and the graphics are similar to other games of this genre. Freecol is a true gem and fans of this type of game will enjoy playing.

It is good, but as you discover the map, the wait in the shift changes slows down until it is blocked. You have to save the game every few minutes, close it and open it again to avoid it. Which really...
